A good CIO needs to have the insight to look at a caller and see what it should focus on and be fitting to victorfully implement the strategic goals that are decided upon. In large firms there often are too many goals and counseling on the key ones that will truly make the biggest have-to doe with sometimes arent easy to do. This often can lead to restructuring and/or headcount reduction which arent easy conclusion to make but can be critical to the success of a firm. A CIO also needs to be able to work well with upper management and others in the firm to obtain and implement the goals.
