Dear Tim OBrien

I had to get word to your book The Things They Carried in my English class. I live in Modesto, California, and Im a junior at Johansen High School. Im a very responsible student and I forever try to do my best at everything I do. I standardised sports, I love to play soccer. I read your book on February four to the twentieth. At first I didnt want to read it because it seem boring, tho as I read it, the book started acquire my attention a lot.
This is a great book, and I count on everybody should read it, because it shows how the soldiers progress to to do sad things to defend their country and sometimes we put one acrosst appreciate what those soldiers are doing for us.

Mr. OBrien, what was your biggest fear expose there? How did you feel when you knew the you had to go to the fight instead of getting your scholarship to Harvard? I know is hard for you to answer this questions, but I hope you answers them and write back to me because I would like to perplex more information about the war.



How did the war tinct you when you came back to the US? Did it make you more responsible, mature, and stronger? Sometimes we conceive of how the war is out there, but we dont in reality know how exactly the war is, because some of us been in it. Being in the war is big responsibility and thats why I thank you for writing this book, it made me think about how hard is to be in the war and the things soldiers have to carried with for the rest of their lifes.

The Things They Carried has made me appreciate what the soldiers in the war do for us. What touch me the most in this book, is what the soldiers have to do to survive.
