Tim OBrien and Ralph Ellison


According to the Websters New macrocosm Dictionary, the definition of bearing is a characteristic manner of fashion (Merriam-Webster). Usually voice communication such as personal, individual, and comical overly come to mind when we think of writing drift. I watch always associated writing mien with belonging uniquely to unmatchable individual, meaning that everyone had his or her own style. After reading, The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien and Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison, I realized that style is unique. Writing has certain rules and elements that must be incorporated in to our writing in order to make our points clear to those we wishing to read it. Since these elements and rules are common to all writing, then style and good writing bring forth new meanings. I restrain chosen to compare the writing style of OBrien and Ellison because I find both these authors spend a penny a unique way of expressing their thoughts and make a connection with the reader. OBrien is an American novelist who is famous for writing about the Vietnam War and the impact it had on the soldiers who fought there after himself got drafted into the army and fought in Vietnam. Ellison was African American novelist, scholar, and writer. He also wrote a collection of political and cordial works.



After reading about both these authors, I have come to the conclusion that although style is not something that we uniquely create, style insists on a personality. I say this because the number of words we know is finite but the process of creating new curses is infinite. This meat that generally we do not repeat the same sentence but instead construct new ones. Creating new sentences requires noesis of words and phrases and that exact knowledge is unique. It is not reasonable to cerebrate that two separate individuals would have the exact vocabulary. Therefore, the authors OBrien and Ellison have unique writing styles.
