Introduction:

For the therapeutic relationship to be successful the nurse needs to have self-awareness. This is important as the nurse will be using themselves as their main tool for this relationship (Stein, Palbury 2005).
The therapeutic relationship was conducted in female psychiatric unit with a client for the purposes of this assignment I will give the client the pseudonym Anne (see appendix). The place that I have used to take on the therapeutic relationship was Egans Model of Helping (Egan 2009). This model involves three full points. Stage one is the exploration stratum.



This stage involves support the client to identify and focus on their difficulties by load-bearing(a) them to explore their thoughts and feelings. Stage two, this is the understanding stage. In this stage we assist the client in setting realistic goals to help them to quash their difficulties. Stage three, this is the objectning and action taking stag. In this stage we will support the client in carrying out their plan for recovery.

The Exploration Stage:
To commence the therapeutic relationship with Anne, I introduced myself and arranged a time to meet with her.
