Latent Heat Of Vaporization

AIM: To find the latent horniness of vaporization of urine system.
MATERIALS required:
* Copper Calorimeter
* Thermometer
* pee trap
* Cotton wool
* Bunsen burner; Metal netting; Conical flask; Tripod stand
* Dry steam trap (Bent tube)
* Water trap
* Screen
METHOD:
The specific latent heat of vaporization of water can be found by pass steam into water in a calorimeter, where it condenses and releases its latent heat. The appliance is as shown in the figure above.
1. Weigh the calorimeter empty.
2. Reweigh the calorimeter when it is about half full of water.
3. The temperature of the water is read and recorded.
4. Set up the instrument as shown in the diagram
5. The calorimeter is lagged with cotton wool to insulate it from the heat of the surroundings.
6. Turn on the Bunsen burner and allow the water to boil. move from the boiler is passed through a steam trap to set aside any condensed moisture. Dry steam only therefore, is allowed to pass into the water in the calorimeter.
7. A screen is usually placed in the midst of the boiler and the calorimeter to prevent the latter from receiving heat directly from the boiler.

The pass of dry steam into the calorimeter is stopped when the temperature of the calorimeter rises by about 30?C above room temperature.
9. Finally, reweigh the calorimeter and contents to find the set of steam condensed.
