A large secretor do up of two lobes joined by a exchange mass (isthmus), located at the base of the throat.
Composed of poke structures called follicles.
The function of the thyroid gland gland is to take iodine, found in many foods, and convert it into thyroid hormones: Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3).
thyroidal cells are the only cells in the organic structure that are adequate to(p) to absorb Iodine.
These cells combine iodine and the amino acid tyrosine to ramp up T3 and T4.
THE HORMONES
T3 and T4 controls the rate of glucose being burned or oxidized and converted to eubstance heat or chemical energy (bodys major metabolic hormone).
Every cell in the body depends upon thyroid hormones for regulation of their metabolism.
Thyroxine (T4) is the major hormone secreted by the thyroid follicles.
Most Triiodothyronine (T3) is formed at the buns tissue by the conversion from Thyroxine. (All cells need constant sum up of chemical energy so therefore all body cells are targets).
CHEMICAL CLASS
Each hormone is constructed from two conjugate tyrosine amino acids with bound Iodine atoms.
T3 has 3 iodine atoms and T4 has four.
REGULATION-NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
The thyroid gland is under control of pituitary gland.
When the level of hormones(T3 and T4) drops also low, the pituitary produces Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
TSH past stimulates the thyroid gland to produce more hormones.
The thyroid gland makes and secretes the hormones, which raises their level in the blood.
The pituitary gland senses this and decreases the levels of TSH hormone.
DISORDERS
HYPERTHYROIDISM
An overproduction of t3 and t4.
Many things can cause this such as gravid`s disease or a damaged thyroid gland.
Graves disease is when your immune system mistakenly attacks your thyroid...If you desire to get a full essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
